In the label printing industry, label printing machines, as core printing equipment, their stable operation is directly related to production efficiency and product quality. However, during long-term use, label printing machines often encounter some malfunctions, causing troubles to production. Understanding common faults and their corresponding strategies is the key to ensuring a smooth printing process.

Printing quality defect

Color deviation is one of the common problems. When the label color does not match expectations, the reasons may lie in incorrect ink mixing ratio, or the PS plate being worn out due to multiple uses, which affects the ink transfer effect, or the uneven pressure of the printing equipment, resulting in different degrees of ink adhesion in different areas. The solution is to re-mix the ink strictly in accordance with the standards of the color card. Carefully inspect the PS plate. If any wear is found, replace it with a new one immediately. Meanwhile, with the aid of pressure testing tools, the pressure of the printing equipment is precisely adjusted to ensure uniform pressure distribution. Image blurring is also a rather troublesome issue. This is mostly due to improper control during the exposure process of the PS plate, with insufficient exposure, resulting in unclear development of the graphic and text parts. It could also be that the anilox roller in the printing equipment has been clogged by ink dry deposits after long-term use, hindering the normal transfer of ink. When solving the problem, it is necessary to re-standardize the exposure process of the PS plate and strictly control the exposure time and intensity. For anilox rollers, a dedicated cleaning agent can be used for soaking and rinsing to thoroughly remove any blockages.

Abnormal operation of machinery

The transmission system malfunctions frequently. After long-term use, the belt will become loose, leading to unstable power transmission, or the gears will wear out due to frequent meshing, resulting in a decrease in transmission accuracy. At this point, the belt tension can be adjusted by regulating the belt tensioner pulley. If the belt is severely aged, it must be replaced in a timely manner. For worn gears, new gears that are suitable for the equipment model should be purchased for replacement. Paper feeding faults should not be ignored either. If paper jams or tilting occur during the paper conveying process, it is very likely that the surface of the paper conveying wheel is worn, resulting in insufficient friction on the paper, or the paper is not neatly piled up in the paper pile. When solving the problem, the paper feeding wheel can be ground and repaired. If it is severely worn, a new wheel should be replaced. At the same time, organize the paper properly to ensure the paper stack is flat, and adjust the parameters of the paper feeding mechanism reasonably, such as the paper feeding speed and paper spacing.

Electrical system failure

Short circuits in circuits are a major hazard. Wires are constantly exposed to complex environments, and their insulation layers age and get damaged, which can easily lead to short circuits. When conducting inspections, check each section of the circuit one by one. If any aged or damaged parts are found, replace the wires immediately and install reliable short-circuit protection devices. Control system failures also affect the operation of the equipment. Program errors may be caused by software conflicts or data loss, while sensor malfunctions are mostly due to aging, dust contamination, etc. The solution is to reinstall or upgrade the control program, clean and calibrate the sensors, and replace them with new ones if damaged, to ensure the stable operation of the electrical system of the label printing machine.
