In the label printing industry, label printing machines, as key printing machinery, once they malfunction, will seriously affect production efficiency and product quality. Mastering effective troubleshooting skills enables one to quickly locate and solve problems, ensuring the smooth progress of production.

Observe the operating status of the equipment
After turning on the machine, pay attention to the startup process of the label printing machine. If the start-up is slow or accompanied by abnormal sounds, it may be an electrical system fault, such as a damaged motor starting capacitor or poor circuit contact. Observe the operation of mechanical components during normal operation. For instance, whether the printing cylinder rotates smoothly, without any jamming or shaking. If the drum operates abnormally, it may be due to bearing wear or poor gear meshing. Check the transmission chain and belt to see if there are any signs of looseness or breakage. A loose chain can lead to unstable transmission, while a broken belt directly affects power transmission. Both of these may cause printing faults.
Check the printing quality
Starting from the printed product, if there is a problem of inaccurate registration, that is, the positions of different color patterns are deviated. At this point, check whether the printing plate is installed firmly and whether the pressure between the printing plate cylinder and the impression cylinder is uniform. Uneven pressure can cause inconsistent transfer of graphics and text, leading to registration deviation. When the printed pattern is blurry or double, it may be due to the wear of the printing plate, the aging of the blanket or the inappropriate viscosity of the ink. After the printing plate is worn out, the details of the graphics and text are difficult to present clearly. The rubber blanket ages and loses its elasticity, unable to evenly transfer ink. If the viscosity of the ink is too high or too low, it will affect the ink transfer effect and cause the quality of the pattern to decline.
Inspect the electrical system
If the label printing machine suddenly stops, the electrical system should be inspected first. Check the fault indicator light on the control panel and troubleshoot according to the prompt information. For instance, if the overheat indicator light comes on, it might be due to poor heat dissipation of the motor or control module. It is necessary to check whether the cooling fan is operating normally and whether the heat sink is covered with dust. Check the wire connections to see if there is any looseness or damage. Loose wires can lead to poor contact and cause equipment failure. Damaged wires may cause short circuits and damage electrical components. In addition, electrical components such as relays and contactors should be inspected. If the components are damaged, it will affect the on-off of the circuit and prevent the equipment from operating normally.
Pay attention to the use of consumables
Consumable issues may also cause printing machine malfunctions. Check the ink. If it dries up or deteriorates, it will affect the printing effect, causing uneven ink color and clogging of the nozzle. In terms of paper, if the paper gets damp or its size is not standard, it is prone to paper jams during the paper feeding process, which will affect the continuity of printing. Poor quality of the backing paper of self-adhesive labels may lead to difficulties in label peeling and affect production efficiency. Through a comprehensive inspection of the equipment's operational status, printing quality, electrical system and consumables, faults of the label printing machine can be diagnosed quickly and accurately, providing a basis for timely maintenance and ensuring the efficient operation of the equipment.
